Aaaaaand the 2017 Color of the Year is…Greenery!
Pantone unveiled the zesty yellowy-green shade in the hopes to refresh, reinvent, and reinvigorate the mind, body and spirit…and your wardrobe of course. Greenery is the color of nature, and naturally the color of a shamrock…feelin’ the luck o’ the irish yet? Surrounding yourself with greenery will bring you a sense of serenity and tranquility whether in your home or on your body.
Reflecting the ongoing and highly popular "go-green" movement (think healthy eating and environmental responsibility), Pantone's Greenery is more than just a kale lookalike. But how does one actually wear without looking like a big leaf that's recently escaped from the wilderness?
For a totally casual approach to Pantone's color of the year, any green will do. From a light forest green to the darkest of emeralds, here are some examples of how to work the color in easily. And when I say easily I mean as easy as pairing a floral print top that has a bit of greener in it with ripped jeans and a fun heel. I love to mix casual/classic looks like I did here and of course I have to have a fun shoe! And for more of an edgy feel I paired a geometric print top with some green in it with a wardrobe staple look: black jeans and a leather jacket. Both only have a hint of green but by accessorizing with some green garnet armcandy, you attract more attention to the green, without being “too green”.
To take it to the next step, introduce a bold green top or bottom. Here I paired a green top with white jeans and a fun shoe, super easy and sleek. For the next look I paired a color with pattern, in this case a bold green skirt with a white/blue striped top. Since blue and yellow make green, I decided to pop some yellow tassel earrings and my armparty of course was the finishing piece to highlight all the colors.
And lastly, if you really want to step outside the box, try full on color from head to toe! I love this love and how the colors play together but most importantly I LOE LOVE LOVE my armparty! I paired a “greenery” skirt with a teal top and a beautiful ombre armparty which just completed the look!
Not everyone looks good in green—and that's OK, too. Start small with your accessories like armcandy, a fun earring, shoes, a bag, or a belt. To build a colorful wardrobe, you have to start somewhere, and starting with your armcandy collection is the perfect way to accessorize any outfit with color, without taking a huge step into a bold color or printed piece of clothing.
